The young trumpet player has become in a few years the emblematic figure of a jazzmen’s generation capable of shaking up the genre’s conventions, of challenging it to new horizons and a new audience. No doubt, at 33 years old, Christian Scott sees beyond the normal scope. One record after the other, he even seems more and more determined to rewrite the rules of jazz with hybridization, avant-garde and explorations. In this year celebrating Jazz centennial, history has provided Scott with an ideal counterpoint to tradition.
